A Day on the Ranch

Ever wondered what a typical day is like? Well, here is a sample schedule - you may get tired out just reading it!

6:00 a.m. Rise & Shine!

Get ready for the day (brush your teeth, get dressed, make your bed, etc.)

Go to breakfast (girls eat together, then the boys eat together)
Return to the cottages, clean-up and participate in a group goal-setting session.
In the morning, boys go to a variety of activities: experiential learning, recreational therapy, art therapy, equine horsemanship, EAP sessions or group therapy sessions. (They rotate through the sessions during the week.)
The girls, meanwhile, are in the school building taking their core classes.
Noon Lunch!
Then it’s the boys’ turn for school and the girls’ turn for the activity/therapy sessions.
4:45 p.m. Wrap-Up

Time to go back to the cottages and clean-up for dinner.

Again, the girls eat dinner first, then the guys.

In the evening, when they are not at dinner, the kids are usually doing homework. They also might have evening cabin chores, dining hall chores and other assignments such as feeding the animals.

There are also evening recreational activities. There is a game room in one of our buildings where students can participate in co-ed activities. This helps them learn how to build healthy relationships with the opposite sex and mix-and-mingle appropriately.

Throughout the day the students might also attend individual therapy sessions and there are also times for them to talk with their parents/family on the phone.

9:30 p.m. Lights Out!
